Mike Lane
Coach Lane is now entering his 3rd season with the Matcats, and 2nd as the head coach.
Brings passion, organizational skills, and knowledge to the program.
Wrestled in college at Central Michigan under national coach of the year Tom Borreli
as well as assistants Shawn Charles (now head coach at Arizona State) and Casey
Cunningham (now top assistant for defending national champion Penn State), for a
team that finished 7th in the country. Only walk on to make the team.
At Farmington high school he was a four year starter and 1 time state qualifier and
co-captain as a senior. Also coached 2 kids in 2 years to all state honors while serving
as an assistant at Farmington after graduating.
Steven Richardson
Coach Richardson will now be entering his 3rd season with the Matcats, 2nd as the
head assistant. Brings passion, knowledge and great communication skills to the program.
Was a three year participant at the State meet while wrestling at South Lyon High
(2 times as a member of the team, 1 time as an individual). 4 year starter and co-captain
as a senior. Led the team in technical falls as a senior and was never pinned in high school.

Matt Cepak
Volunteer Assistant Coach Matt Cepak- entering his 3rd season with the Matcats.
Has proven to be great at teaching the basics, bringing energy and being organized.
Also assisted at the Brighton Summer camp in 2011 with some of the best local coaches
around.
In high school Coach Cepak was a 4 year Varsity starter at Montebella High School. He
was the only member of his team to qualify for regionals, and was captain and team
MVP his senior year. He was offered a partial scholarship to wrestle at Wayne State,
but opted to attend Central Michigan and focus on school.
